A bstract The Swampland Distance Conjecture (SDC) restricts the geodesic distances that scalars can traverse in effective field theories as they approach points at infinite distance moduli space. We propose that, when applied to subset of light fields with scalar potentials, SDC amount non-geodesicity allowed for trajectories along valleys potential. This is necessary ensure consistency a valid swampland criterion any energy scale across RG flow. provide simple description this effect space hyperbolic type, and products thereof, obtain critical which lead maximum compatible SDC. recover generalize these results by expressing new Convex Hull constraint on trajectories, characterizing towers their charge mass ratio analogy Scalar Weak Gravity Conjecture. show recent asymptotic potential flux compatifications near infinity precisely realize amounts non-geodesicity. Our suggest string theory compactifications most generic potentials allowing while respecting them.

One classical result of Freiman gives the optimal lower bound for the cardinality of A + A if A is a d-dimensional finite set in R. Matolcsi and Ruzsa have recently generalized this lower bound to |A+ kB| if B is d-dimensional, and A is contained in the convex hull of B. We characterize the equality case of the Matolcsi–Ruzsa bound. The argument is based partially on understanding triangulation...
متن کاملComplex Geodesics on Convex Domains
Existence and uniqueness of complex geodesics joining two points of a convex bounded domain in a Banach space X are considered. Existence is proved for the unit ball of X under the assumption that X is 1-complemented in its double dual. Another existence result for taut domains is also proved. Uniqueness is proved for strictly convex bounded domains in spaces with the analytic Radon-Nikodym pro...
متن کاملNon-supersymmetric AdS and the Swampland
We propose to sharpen the weak gravity conjecture by the statement that, except for BPS states in a supersymmetric theory, the gravitational force is strictly weaker than any electric force and provide a number of evidences for this statement. Our conjecture implies that any non-supersymmetric anti-de Sitter vacuum supported by fluxes must be unstable, as is the case for all known attempts at s...
